Dear Members of the Idea Exchange,
The Idea Exchange began nearly twenty years ago as a monthly gathering
of friends interesting in meaningful conversations of high intellectual
quality, guided by the principles of tolerance and mutual respect.
We always met on the first Thursday of the month at a Phoenix-area
restaurant, at first at the IHOP on Apache Boulevard in Tempe, and then
(after that closed) at the Denny's in Scottsdale. Although meetings varied
widely, generally there were from 15 to 20 persons present sharing their
ideas in an atmosphere of pleasant comraderie.
The beginning of the pandemic last year of course put a stop to that,
and it was replaced by a weekly Zoom meeting every Sunday night.
These virtual meetings of course opened the disucssions to a much
wider range of participants, since members did not have to be
physically present, but the number of participants has steadily
dwindled.
Now that the worst of the epidemic is over, many people have asked
about resuming the in--person restaurant meetings, for those still living
in the Phoenix area of course.
This message is to gauge local interest in doing this.
If you are indeed interested in resuming the regular, in-person Idea
Exchange meetings, please reply to this message by stating --
-- your interst in doing so
-- those days when you would would be able to meet, and prefer to meet
-- those times that you would prefer to meet (i.e. still a dinner meeting,
from 6 PM on, or perhaps earlier in the day?).
-- suggestions on where (what city? what restaurant?) you might like to meet
However it goes, I hope to continue "seeing" you all soon, either in
person or on the screen
