Mesa - Community Engagement & Development Workshops

We are running a series of four workshops, this week and next, about community engagement and development. I would like to invite you to one or all of these trainings. They are being taught by national speakers we have brought in with a grant from Enterprise (enterprisecommunity.com). Please feel free to pass on to your boards (school, club and corporate). RAILmesa, Enterprise and NEDCO will be hosting 4 workshops in anticipation of the consolidated plan review and discussion. We would love for you and any other community outreach people and or interested neighborhood leaders that you know to join us for the workshops. We will be inviting all of the city council, other city staff and some non-profit board of directors as well as community members, neighborhood leaders etc. 

Investing in What Works: Comprehensive Community Development

Join us for a practitioner-based workshop highlighting best practices and innovative models around the country to examine how they are successfully integrating various community development efforts for greater impact and more efficient use of limited resources. Examples will highlight the integration of employment, creative place-making, cultural districts, financial opportunity, commercial improvement and affordable housing with new transit developments in each location. Light refreshments provided.
 
How to Use Data to Teach and Inform

Learn the importance of public data and information in informing yourself and others and understanding the available data sets and how to access, interpret and bring that information together in a compelling form.

Learn how to organize & run meetings and agendas to achieve actionable outcomes when working with the community. Light refreshments provided.

Storytelling Skills Workshop
Thursday, August 21 - 5:00 - 8:00 pm
Oakwood Creative - 247 N Macdonald, Mesa

How to use narrative storytelling as an attractive and engaging way to let the public know about the exciting things that are going on in your community. Learn how to best use journalism, blogging and other forms of traditional and social media to share positive stories. Light refreshments provided.
