Receives direction from director, manager, or supervisor. Gives
direction to assigned members of the nursing team and other allied
health employees. Works collaboratively with physicians, advanced mid-
level practitioners, and allied health staff. Works cooperatively with
internal and external healthcare providers and agencies. The Tier III
Registered Nurse is accountable for the coordination of nursing care,
including direct patient care, patient/family education and discharge
planning. This nurse provides professional nursing care across
practice settings and the continuum of care to meet the needs of the
patient and family. Where nursing care is provided, the nursing
process of assessing, diagnosing, outcome identification, planning,
implementing and evaluating is the basis for care delivered. The Tier
III Nurse provides leadership through activities such as teaching,
community involvement, preceptor role, relief Team Lead assignment,
committee work, and participation in research. The American Nurses
Association (ANA) Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice (2004),
AORN 2004 Standards, Recommended Practices, and Guidelines, ASPAN
Standards of Perianesthesia Nursing Practice (2004), and the ANA Code
of Ethics for Nurses (2001) provide a basis for practice. Will be
hired as Float Pool RN and CERNER Superuser.
