Dear Symphonic Band Students and Families,
We are so proud of the Symphonic Band's progress toward our OMEA Conference performance and their commitment to excellence. The "final stretch" to Conference is immediately upon us when we return from break, and the Symphonic Band is poised to give a wonderful performance at the conference.
In January 2025, we begin a cycle of after-school Sectionals that each section must complete. Students have scheduled these 3 one-hour after-school sectionals with Mr. Benson on a first-come, first-served basis. (Morning sectional rotation will not operate in January).
Attached is the Sectional Schedule for Symphonic Band to Conference. Students, please mark your calendar and make any necessary arrangements ahead of time to be in attendance. These are required sectionals, along with our full-ensemble rehearsals scheduled in January (work/events not excused; plan ahead). Please reference the full rehearsal calendar distributed in October to Symphonic Band for full-ensemble rehearsals.
----------
Instructions to students:
Sectionals are one hour in length and attendance is mandatory. These sectionals are your opportunity to check off your parts with Mr. Benson, and for the section to refine ensemble cohesiveness, tuning, etc. You must arrive prepared to your sectional on your individual parts, as this is not a time to learn your parts. All individual parts MUST be checked off prior to our performance. Any parts not passed during sectionals will need to be passed off individually to Mr. Benson prior to our performance at Conference. Completing the sectional requirement and attending the required full ensemble after-school rehearsals is a significant part of your ensemble grade.
----------
Sectionals are what allow our ensembles to continue the tradition of excellence that has become a hallmark of the PHSN Bands.
**Note: These have been scheduled with Mr. Benson on a first-come, first-served basis by the students of each section over the past week prior to break.**
Please help your student to secure a ride with someone in their section if necessary.
Thanks & Go Panthers!
