My apologies, y'all.

Somehow the googlegroups mechanism failed us, and Robert Rich managed to become a member - the day of his post - and thus his unmoderated blurb erupted.
He's not (a member) any longer...

We'll now return to our somnambulance or other minimal activity ☺
(Well, there's been precious little commentary of late; what are y'all up to??)

Happy Holidays, whichever of the many in this season you prefer or observe!

I expect to pass this way but once;

any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature,
let me do it now.

Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

I had a distant relative named Robert Rich, who actually owned the Buffalo Bisons baseball team and the Buffalo Bills, whose home stadium bore his name from 1976 to 1998. I will, however, disown any improbable connection between the RR of the mystery email and my relative. Despite his possessing unimaginable wealth, none of which do I stand to inherit, his Wikipedia bio is actually shorter than mine (but far more impressive).

Since Skip, my beloved friend from orchestra, bowling, and Youth for Christ days, has egged us on to report on what we are "up to," we are doing very well here in Chicago, still traveling in Europe but fully retired from my music career. I hit 80 last month and will be semi-retiring again on December 31, when I will move from Vicar to Associate Vicar (with greatly reduced responsibilities) at Grace Anglican Fellowship in suburban Lake Forest. My young wife, Gayle (only 77 next Monday), is the love of my life and my steadfast partner in absolutely everything I do. Without her I am certain I actually would have retired years ago. She keeps me going, happily.

We wish all of you blessed holidays, and may 2026 be a truly great new year for everyone, filled with love, joy, peace, faith and hope.

Missing "y'all,"
Alan

OK, I am Jan(ice) Carter Rich, a classmate of yours who is married to Robert Rich of Eden, NY, not related to the Bills Robert Rich, although my daughter claimed it one time to have a boyfriend think she was rich in more than her last name!!!!

I have no idea how that email thing happened!  We received the news of Judy Peitscher Morrison, but we didn't try to respond.

I'm not going to add any more now in case I trip something again.

Merry Christmas to all, with memories of oh so many years ago.
Jan

Janice Carter - now that's a name I recognize! Sounds like you are doing well. As I recall we double dated to see a movie in maybe 6th grade - you with Greg Hughes and I with Linda Ludwig. Strange how random events can spark long-ago memories.

Hi to Alan and Skip (who as our Group Manager seems to have IDed and hopefully fixed the problem). And glad to hear that Alan is finding satisfaction as he slides into full time retirement. Alan, I too have found later-in-life love.  After Paula died six years ago I eventually moved into a retirement community here in Tucson, where I met Jan Reiner. We have lots of interests in common, including music, and share political orientations. I feel so fortunate that we met.

HI to all our other classmates Let's hear from more and  Merry Christmas to everyone.

Dale K

Hello Fellow "63ers,

A word to Alan Heatherington.

It was nice to hear of your current path in life.
As I recall, we never had any classes together at PHS,
so I never really got to know you.  However, I remember
being blown away at one of the assemblies we had in
which you played something from Porgy and Bess on
the violin.  It was quite expressive and moving, and I
was impressed with your talent, wondering if you would
pursue a career in music.  Fortunately for those in your
life you did!  Best wishes on your new path.

Dear Liz,

Thank you for writing! I actually remember you well (must have had a secret crush). Thank you for the kind comment about my violin playing. I spent much of my early career in music as a professional violinist/teacher before focusing much more on conducting. I "retired" from most of my music activities at 70, after I returned to complete my seminary education and entered the Anglican priesthood. In my second retirement at 80, I will still do many of the same things I have been doing, but with a significantly reduced schedule: time to slow down a bit at last! Let me know what you are up to in your "mature" years.

Fondly,
Alan

Hello, Alan,

It was nice to hear from you again!

As for life in my "mature" years, I do manage to keep very
busy, mostly playing tennis & pickleball with friends, hiking
& traveling with my husband & children, and staying politically
active.  Admittedly, I do miss teaching (second graders), but
I have 3 very affectionate & playful (sometimes mischievous)
cats who keep me on my toes.

Like you, I have always loved music, and make listening to
it part of every day.  How I wished I could have been lucky
enough to have music lessons as a child...would have chosen
piano or violin as my instrument of choice...so you can imagine
how I admire and appreciate those who can create music.  Good
for you that you made it such an important part of your life; so
important to use our talents to create joy in our lives, right?

You might enjoy pictures of me with my family, doing what we
love most...traveling & being out in Nature:
