Connect with RETSMd, but not PHRETS

I'm trying to connect to a RETS server (for Shoals Area Association of Realtors). Using the credentials that I have, I have no problem logging in via RETSMd, but using the PHRETS library gets an authentication error:

GET https://smlsa-rets.paragonrels.com/rets/fnisrets.aspx/SMLSA/login` resulted in a `401 Unauthorized` response

Any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

scratch that - the problem was in Basic Authentication. Got that set correctly, all is well.
