Edito is a real operating tool. Each time you will find an issue that needs solving, you can write it down and place it in the To do line, then you can think about the reasons why you made that mistake by marking the issue under the Thoughts line and then move it in the Done line once you have fixed it.
In this phase you will focus on problems that are less serious from an holistic point of view but that can turn out to be lethal once the novel is in the hands of a professional: here you will try to avoid common mistakes! For example:
With specific cards, you can keep track of your frequent mistakes, their origin and impact on your work. Do you have issues with dialogues? Why? Do you have a tendency to overuse adjectives or gerund? What could be the cause?
Edito was designed by Matteo di Pascale and Andrea Binasco, authors of Fabula Deck, the most used tool for writers in the world.
The deck comprises the knowledge contained in the best editing and self-editing manuals and it was supervised by Dalia Oggero, one of the most important Italian editors who has been curating the Italian narrative section for the prestigious publishing house Einaudi.
The English edition was curated by Hannah Chukwu, editor at Penguin Random House UK.
Edito is not just a tool to radically improve your manuscript but also a beautiful work of art. All illustrations are drawn by hand by Daria Rosso, a young artist who made sure that each card was truly unique (and we thank her for it ?)
Starting this week, I am unable to open my .txt files with the Dropbox Editor on the Dropbox Android phone app. I am now being presented with the following message:
Upload to View
This file type can only be viewed if it is first uploaded and converted into a Google Docs file. Do you want to continue?
I do not want to use Google Docs for my .txt files. I have tried that provided option, but you then must tie the document to a Google account, and it does annoying auto-formatting and such which I am purposely trying to avoid by using .txt files in the first place.
Is Dropbox editor being deprecated? Is there any way to use another text editor on my device instead of converting to a Google Doc and tying back to a Google account? I am unable to even try to open this document using another editor now, you get the same 'Upload to View' message when clicking the kabab menu too

@Nancy Thanks for the quick response Nancy. What is the best way to send over a screenshot? I am not seeing a way to add it to my original post or here in a comment

Planet Harmonica was born fifteen years ago, and our world was so different at the time. For a harmonica fanatic like me, it was not so easy to find advices, discover new artists or get information on US harmonica enthusiasts producing garage-made dedicated gear.
Because it was a bilingual magazine, it could really create this bridge and showed the british and american creative abundance to french speaking readers, but also to show the Americans they were not alone. Nowadays, everything is easier : if you want to learn how to play, you can find hundreds of tutorials on Youtube, either in french or english. Artists from all over the world enjoy an unequalled exposure compared to the early years of the internet.
Planet Harmonica is now back to life. There is no better editor in chief than Laurent to drive this reboot : his passion and energy are still stunning. The former absolute beginner became a talented amateur harp player, boosted by the passion I used to have in the past. Is it still necessary to keep on building a bridge between french and english worlds ? Surprisingly, I think so. Within only a few years, we went from a critical lack of information to a plethora, and so many information are available that it is now very difficult to sort out facts and fakes.
To me, the new Planet Harmonica is a very effective tool to bring some intelligence in it, on both sides of the Channel and the Atlantic ocean. Finding out the best artists, the best tutorials, the instruments that really make a difference. As far as I am concerned, I will only remain in the team as a contributor, and that is fine for me. If I can manage it, if passion for an artist comes back to me, no doubt I will share these findings with you. In the ultra connected harmonica mountain, there are many unexploited veins, unsuspected treasures, abandoned mines that we should probably rediscover. So I put my safety helmet on, picked up my diatonic pickaxe (my chromatic shovel is in the trolley). I am excited and happy to be part of this new team and I hope our paths will cross somewhere i the mine !
@Nancy for a science, I just made a new .txt file with Dropbox editor containing just "testtest". saved it, and immediately got the same message when trying to open it back up after initial creating and save
I'm having the same problem. Been using Dropbox for 15 years. And now, in January 2024, when trying to open a txt file I get a message saying that the file has to be uploaded to Google drive and converted before I can view it! So irritating!
I know the classic/earlier version of ESRI Story Maps allowed for multiple editors through setting up a group and sharing the Story Map application to the group so it would be accessible to edit for all members of the group. Doing that same workflow for ArcGIS Story Maps appears to not allow the members to edit. Am I missing something, or is this still not fully-realized in this new version of Story Maps?
I've been able to get the story published and a colleague is able to go to the ArcGIS Story Maps page through the App Launcher window and view the map. When viewing the map and signed in, there is an "Edit" button, but when she clicks it, an error shows and says the builder cannot be loaded.
Hi Nathan -- Collaborating on a story for non-admins has been possible for many months. While an admin does initially need to create a group in which the members can update all items, once that step is complete there's no admin involvement needed.
The new ArcGIS StoryMaps doesn't support group editing just yet, but we plan to add features for collaborating on stories in the future. For now, only admins and members in a custom role with the administrative privilege to update all items in the organization can edit someone else's story.
So it's been a year and I see this still isn't possible? Some of us wanted to collaborate on a story map for a conference and when I try to share it with a edit capabilities group it says it's not possible. I'm not giving people elevated admin rights just to edit a shared story map? Can't this be updated?
So why do i get this then? Is this another example where Esri has made it so that when you go to the most obvious place you can't do something but you have to go through a different series of steps to get it to do what you want?
So when I go to share in the Story Map, which is the most obvious step, it says I can't share it with the group. But instead, I actually have to go to the item and share it that way? This is like the old way of sharing maps all over again. Why can't Esri build in the correct sharing settings in the Story Map I'm actually editing? Instead I have to save it, go back out to the item, and then it lets me share it? What a backwards way to do things.
We are currently evaluating the simultaneous editor warning that was released a few weeks ago, and when we are comfortable it is working as we expect we plan to unblock the ability to share to update groups from the story builder.
I like to add someone else as admin. So they can change everything. After I did this, i would like to delete myself as admin. Now I added someone as editor, but it is clear that they can't do everything that an admin can do.
Thanks for clarifying. An editor or contributor cannot make the type of changes you are listing. Do you have more sites in your account than the one in question? If there's only the one site, you can update the account information to the new owner by editing the email on file for the account.
