It's been a while since the latest "official" release of PHPDevShell. It doesn't mean the project is dead, quite the opposite. In fact, the long standing team (Jason, Don, Ross, and I) will be more involved in the future thanks to several projects based on our framework.

Today, the latest official release is 3.2.0.

We are working on version 4.0. It will be a major version, greatly improved and modernized. It will have a brand new GUI based on Bootstrap, a clean core with many enhancements, wider unit testings, a more modular architecture.

To help you migrating, we will release a transitional version 3.5, which is basically the core of 4.0 with the GUI of 3.2. The 3.x branch will stay for a little while for bug fixes, but we'll definitely focus on developing 4.0.

Also, we will be available for paid custom development and support so we can continue improving: we really think our framework is good because it's based on our actual needs as developers.

As a side note, we will be moving from Launchpad to Github to enjoy their very flexible plugin repositories.

Don't hesitate to comment!

PS: we sometimes write entries in the project's blog, don't miss them!

3 years later...

Is the project dead or are there still plans on releasing 4.0?

The branch 4.0 as it was at that time will never be released. It was a dead end partly because one of the goals was to switch from jQueryUI to bootstrap and it's an huge work.
Version 3.5 is still in dev and I'm using it everyday for my projects, and it has many enhancements from the previoux 3.x versions.
Unfortunatly I don't have enough time to package a release, but I still push my changes to Launchpad on a regular basis (I even started on github).

If you're interested you can checkout the launchpad repository you'll have regular updates. You are welcome to participate too :)
