I was going to address this once Samantha had accepted the nomination however it appears pertinent now. The bylaws say Secretaries can stand in CC elections but they must resign if they are successful.

Thanks,

The only concern I have* here is that Graham has also been nominated, and that I don't think it's best for the committee for spouses to be on it together.* I love both these people, and I think they're both qualified and fantastic humans. I'd be saying the same thing if any other couple were nominated. Also, isn't Samantha a FIG secretary still? Also, I'm not a voting member so I have 0% horse in the race.

To address Chris's point, I'm not sure why my relationship with Graham would preclude us both from serving on the core committee. With all due respect (and affection), I reject the notion that two spouses are unable to act independently in a professional capacity. We're no more or less capable of colluding on a vote than any other two people.
If anything, there is less potential conflict here than when Graham represented the PHP League, requiring me to rescue myself from matters involving that group.
As for my current position, if elected I will immediately resign as secretary.
Thanks again,
Samantha Quiñones

Errm we can delete posts on google groups at our own discretion? Is there a way to disable that?

Sorry about that. Appears that in my posting to multiple similar threads I pasted the link to a thread I'd previously deleted because I wanted to rephase it. (we can't edit posts here)I will remove the post with the cross link, it is no longer relevant.Regards,Adam Culp--
