This will be a 6 months contract to start with, and can go up for more than 2 years. JOB DETAILS:

Role: Support Engineer

Location: Sunnyvale, CA
Duration: 6 months – 1+ year

Duties:

This Engineer will be responsible for supporting a new cutting edge application with all underlying applications. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (e.g., in order to be considered to perform this position, the person must be able to perform essential duties and responsibilities listed below):

Provide leadership in providing maintenance and support our web presence including operational monitoring for applications and servers.
Analyze system problems to determine root cause; utilize data points such as but not limited to, log analysis, software and hardware monitoring tools.
Perform system release support. design test plans and schedules, attend business and engineering meetings as needed, and provide feedback where appropriate. Participate at operational and release meetings, including communicating changes affecting department.
Expert Knowledge as it relates to troubleshooting and resolving problems quickly and effectively in a production, mission critical environment.
Lead as team member to improve operational performance through conveyance and interaction with in-house tools and application development/system engineering groups.
Participate in on-call system administration support including but not limited to weekend and late night availability is expected to service the needs to the business. All other duties as assigned and ability to work independently.

 

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and maintain system administration documentation. Operationalize and document tier-1 level support; train and mentor Production Control staff for providing teir-1 support.

Act as technology lead or resource as needed in support of Application or Infrastructure projects. Provide leadership in fostering and maintaining both a positive team culture and service-centric environment.

Desired skill set - Excellent knowledge of JBoss application server - Thorough understanding of Linux, Oracle, MySQL, Apache, IIS and other typical Services technology components - experience with Linux OS - good scripting experience - familiar with tools like wily interoscope,hprof, Optimizeit, jprobe profilers - Understanding of security principles, best practices architectures, tools and processes - Knowledge of web technologies and standards: HTML, Javascript, SQL, JSON, XML, XHTML, SSL/TLS, REST, SOAP, SAML, OAuth, OpenID

Nice to have skills - familiar with CA products like Autosys, directory and siteminder - experience in securing systems and infrastructure - Knowledge of network architecture, standards and protocols - Knowledge of linux internals - ability to track activities and anomaly detection - experience of working in high secure environments
