Title : SCOM Management Pack Developer
Location : San Ramon, CA
Type : 12 Months contract position

Responsibilities:
The person should have a history of having performed Management Pack design and development in support of technically and organizationally complex environments with differing monitoring needs.  The person must have a demonstrated strong commitment to teamwork and mentoring.
Core Technical Competencies

Skills:-
Management Pack (MP) authoring within a large enterprise environment having diverse monitoring requirements:
•         Designing, documenting, developing, and testing MPs adhering to a strict MP Lifecycle and change management methodology
•         Developing monitors, rules, discoveries, diagnostic and/or recovery tasks, views
•         Expert knowledge of optimal targeting methods
•         Expert knowledge of optimal health model construction
•         Expert knowledge of the SCOM service model  and its usage (classes, relationships, referenced classes)
•         Advanced knowledge of module types including data sources, probe actions, and write actions
•         Expert usage knowledge of consoles (Authoring, Operations)
• Disciplined testing procedures
•         High degree of proficiency in XML (work with MPs’ XML)
•         High degree of proficiency in SCOM MP module development
 
 
Supporting Technical Competencies
• Good knowledge of Operations Manager SDK usage for MP related tasks (e.g., Automation of MP creation, configuration data extraction)
• Good working knowledge of SQL Server 2005 or higher (e.g., queries, joins)
• Good knowledge of processes incorporated, and artifacts referenced, during agent installation
• Troubleshooting of Operations Manager infrastructure issues
• Able to implement MP development approaches, and techniques to best meet the business requirements
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows 2003/2008
• Working knowledge of SNMP
• Good working knowledge of Powershell, WMI, VBScript
 
Desired Technical Competencies
• Understanding of Silect MP Studio usage
• Administrative knowledge of SCOM 2007 R2
• Working knowledge of Active Directory, SSRS 2008
VB.NET
• Basic knowledge of IIS 7, SharePoint 2010, Exchange 2010
