Hardware Key doesn't recognize registration

I understand the reason for the hardware key: the program designer
wants to protect the amount of time he devoted to developing the
program against piracy. But ProShow Producer is not cheap, and I also
resent the amount of MY time it wastes. Before I updated to the latest
2.774 version with 2.775 presenter, the hardware key only ceased to
function each time I upgraded the program. The program would suddenly
tell me I was in trial mode and that my trial had expired

Support advised that the reason it was not recognizing my registration
key was that I needed to reset the key by leaving it plugged in while
I uninstalled the Proshow USB key in the Device Manager, then
reinstalled it by removing and reinserting the key. A pain but I know
the solution by heart so I've learned to live with it.

Since upgrading to 2.774Producer/2.775 Presenter, the hardware key will
suddenly go bad in the middle of the program, forcing me to save, and
reboot the key. A royal time waster.

Anyone have a cure?
