Hi Martin,
the Short-Lived Cache setting isn't really clear for me.
In v1.14.1 the help text says "By default the images are cached for 30 days or more. Check when the images should be purged from cache after 1 day - this way stale images won't be displayed in the Photo stream"
With Short-Lived Cache: ON, does this mean that after one day ALL pictures are deleted in the cache or only those which are deleted in the cloud  (e.g. GDrive)?

Thanks and best regards
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

when launching a slideshow, a photo is downloaded from the server only if there's no cached version or if the cached version is too old. If the photo exists on the server, it is cached and displayed. If the photo no longer exists on the server, it is removed from the cache.

So, the cache is updated/cleared only gradually, as the slideshow is running.

Best regards,

Martin

I should probably explain the caching approach more at http://www.android-photo-frame.eu/faq.html ...

Hi Martin,
thanks for the feedback.

Your explanation is in line with my obervations in Short-Lived Cache: OFF  mode.
You also wrote "... when launching a slideshow, a photo is downloaded from the server only if there's no cached version or if the cached version is too old." Is too old  = 30 days with Short-Lived Cache: OFF  and 1 day with setting this paramtere to ON?

I think it's a good idea to explain the caching approach in the faq

Best regards
Stefan

Hi Stefan,

that's exactly what it means.

I've added the "Photo Cache Explained" chapter to https://www.android-photo-frame.eu/faq.html - could you please review and let me know whether the description is clear?

Thanks,

Best regards,

Martin
