I love this app! I have a dedicated Android phone running it, displaying on a Samsung The Frame 34" TV (the one with the special matt display for showing Art), and my photos look magnificent. "I've seen things you would not believe" in my photos now (to quote from Blade Runner). Thanks to photocloud I've rediscovered decades of iconic photos and precious moments in my life.
Once you move to a proper size display, lots of things change. A screen of 34" in landscape mode, still gives enough space for the portrait photos to show nicely without having to rotate the screen. But it also means that the normal widgets are way too big. There's enough space and resolution now to display a bit of extra info without trampling all over the screen. The degree of widget transparency is already perfect though.
Request 1: allow the left side widget (photo name) to be a half or a third standard size.
Request 2: allow choice of font colour for the widget
Request 3: separate off the time info from the weather - possibly put a new widget in the top right corner with the time?
Request 4: make the weather location name optional. (The photoframe isn't supposed to be a mobile device so there shouldn't be any confusion about where the weather report relates to).
What we're aiming for is discrete notifications that do not distract from the beauty of the image or uniqueness / preciousness of the memory.
It's a difficult balancing act. In the beginning I turned all widgets off, so as not to detract from the photos. But now I'm thinking that a small amount of useful but discrete info can be accepted.
