When I try to set the source as a Dropbox folder. a Dropbox login screen appears. I seems to be a bit ' greyed out ', and when I enter my e-mail and password and hit GO, nothing happens? I can access a OneDrive folder just fine.

Hello,

that's odd. I've just reinstalled my PhotoCloud app and added a Dropbox account from scratch, and it seems to be working well.

The Dropbox login wizard is actually fully implemented as a Dropbox-provided webpage, therefore there's little I can help. However, could you please try again? Maybe it was just a temporary network glitch...

If the issue would persist, could you please try to contact the Dropbox support?

Best regards,
Martin

This looks like the Dropbox Login webpage is completely broken on your Android 6 device. Could you try to reinstall PhotoCloud, to see whether that would help?

If it doesn't, you can try another Dropbox-related app, to see whether it works properly. For example "Autosync for Dropbox - Dropsync": https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ttxapps.dropsync

Best regards,
Martin

Attached is a photo of the Dropbox API login screen, where I have entered my e-mail and password. I hit ‘ sign in ‘, and nothing happens? Note how the blue areas are lightly greyed out, and my text wrote over the words e-mail and password in the boxes. This is an Andriod 6 tablet.

I removed PhotoCloud, turned off the tablet, turned it back on, and installed PhotoCloud. Same results. I was using the app Fotoo, and I get the same thing there too. I have 3 of the same tablets, and they ALL have this problem with Dropbox. The tablet setup page says they are: Android Version 6, Kernel 3.4.67.

Since the same issue affects all Dropbox-related Android apps, then unfortunately I have to conclude that it's a problem on Dropbox side. Could you please contact the Dropbox support at https://www.dropbox.com/support and describe the issue to the support team? Please let us know how that went.

Thank you,
Best regards,
Martin

I have a discussion ongoing with Dropbox too. Still no answer from them.

This is from the DropBox Community:

This is a third-party app that uses the Dropbox API, and Dropbox cannot support third-party apps. Dropbox just provides access to the API for other developers, but it's up to those developers to provide support for their own apps, even if the problem is authentication. They would have created the code which handles that process within their own app; not Dropbox.

Hi Len,

thank you for posting the response. However, that's a pile of BS, pardon my French. I'm opening the AuthActivity as provided from dropbox-core-sdk.jar provided by Dropbox, which starts a series of Dropbox login webpages hosted on Dropbox. In my book, that makes Dropbox responsible, not me. The Dropbox code is broken => Dropbox needs to fix it.

Best,
Martin
