Call for Applications | Researchers for Nepal Picture Library's Feminist Memory Project

Nepal Picture Library (NPL) is seeking dedicated researchers to contribute to its Feminist Memory Project (FMP), an ambitious and wide-ranging initiative documenting the history and narratives of feminism in Nepal. We are particularly interested in expanding our archive to include the significant contributions of feminist NGOs in Nepal.

About the Feminist Memory Project: The Feminist Memory Project is an archival campaign initiated by Nepal Picture Library in 2018. Over the years, our team has gathered and digitized a wide array of materials, including photographs, oral histories, personal letters, pamphlets, and official documents, reflecting diverse facets of Nepal’s feminist movements. Today, the project houses an extensive collection comprising over 10,000 photographs and documents, serving as an invaluable resource for understanding and preserving feminist activism in Nepal.

Responsibilities:

• Build timelines of activities.
• Identify and collect relevant archival materials, including photographs, documents, and personal narratives.
• Generate finding aid and metadata for the NPL archive.
• Engage with other researchers, community members, activists, and stakeholders for accurate documentation.

Qualifications:

• Background in history, gender studies, anthropology, sociology, or a related field will be given priority.
• Proven research experience, preferably in feminist or social justice movements.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for conducting interviews and community engagement.
• Fluency in Nepali and English; additional local languages are a plus.
• Commitment to ethical research and archival practices.

नेपाल पिक्चर लाइब्रेरी (NPL) को महत्त्वाकांक्षी र व्यापक पहल फेमिनिस्ट मेमोरी प्रोजेक्ट (FMP) को लागि हामी अनुभवी र दक्ष अनुसन्धानकर्ताहरू खोजिरहेका छौ। यो प्रोजेक्टले नेपालको महिलावादी इतिहासको अभिलेखीकरण र दस्तावेजीकरणमा योगदान गर्न अनुसन्धानकर्ताहरूका लागि सुनौलो अवसर प्रदान गर्नेछ। विशेष गरी यस वर्ष हामी नेपालका महिलावादी गैरसरकारी संस्थाहरूका महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिकालाई समेटेर हाम्रो अभिलेख विस्तार गर्न इच्छुक छौं।

फेमिनिस्ट मेमोरी प्रोजेक्टको बारेमा:
फेमिनिस्ट मेमोरी प्रोजेक्ट २०१८ मा नेपाल पिक्चर लाइब्रेरीद्वारा सुरु गरिएको अभिलेखीकरण अभियान हो। हाम्रो अभिलेख टोलीले वर्षौं देखि फोटो, मौखिक इतिहास र व्यक्तिगत पत्र-पर्चाहरू लगायत अन्य सामग्रीहरूलाई विस्तृत रूपमा सङ्कलन र डिजिटाइज गर्दै आइरहेको छ। यस प्रोजेक्ट अन्तर्गत NPL मा १०,००० भन्दा बढी फोटोहरू र कागजातहरूको विस्तृत सङ्ग्रह भईसकेको छ, जसले नेपालको महिलावादी आन्दोलनलाई बुझ्न र संरक्षण गर्नका लागि अमूल्य स्रोतको रूपमा काम गर्दै आइरहेको छ।

जिम्मेवारीहरु:

• गतिविधिहरूको समयरेखा निर्धारण गर्ने
• फोटो,कागजात, र व्यक्तिगत कथाहरू सहित सान्दर्भिक अभिलेख सामग्रीहरू पहिचान र सङ्कलन गर्ने
• NPL मा अभिलेखी अनुसन्धानको लागि मेटाडेटा र फाइनडिङ्ग एड तयार पार्ने
• त्रुटीरहित दस्तावेजीकरणको लागि अन्य अनुसन्धानकर्ता, समुदायका सदस्य, कार्यकर्ता र सरोकारवालाहरूसँग सल्लाह-सुझाव लिने

योग्यता:

• इतिहास, लैङ्गिक अध्ययन, मानवशास्त्र, समाजशास्त्र, वा सम्बन्धित क्षेत्रको पृष्ठभूमि भएकालाई प्राथमिकता दिइनेछ
• महिलावादी वा सामाजिक न्याय आन्दोलनहरूमा अनुसन्धान अनुभव
• अन्तर्वार्ता र सामुदायिक संलग्नताका लागि बलियो अन्तरव्यक्तिगत र सञ्चार कौशल
• नेपाली र अंग्रेजी भाषामा पोख्त, थप स्थानीय भाषालाई प्राथमिकता दिईनेछ
• अनुसन्धानका नैतिक जिम्मेवारीहरू बुझेको
