Ok, this is a proposed schedule for the day...

If anyone has comments, questions, or suggestions, let's hear them!

5:00AM "Unofficial" PhotoWalk
9:00AM Doors open for PhotoCamp
10:00AM Opening Ceremonies
11:00AM - 12:30PM Lunch
1:00PM - 5:00PM Sessions/Shoots/Etc. (20+ sessions can happen)
5:00PM - 6:30PM Dinner
7:00PM - 9:00PM Sessions/Shoots/Etc. (10+ sessions can happen)
9:00PM - Wrap up!

Obviouly, we make some assumptions here...

We can have 5 (or so) sessions at any one time. (This assumes we have
5 distinct locations/rooms where people can come together into a
group. We should have 2-4 data projectors on hand.)

5AM is set for the "Unofficial" PhotoWalk because the sunrise should
happen at about 5:44AM (I will not be there, so I leave this one up to
whoever came up with the idea!)

9AM will be the official opening where you can get into Bucketworks,
check in, meet people, do some networking, etc. (This is people
milling around type of thing. Maybe first time visitors will need a
tour?)

10AM is when we will do the big welcome and kickoff stuff, introduce
everyone, and also you talk about what you want to teach or learn.
(This is everyone in a big circle type thing.)

11AM is already lunch time! Eat some food, put your sessions on the
wall, team up with people, etc. (This is sit-down, walk-around, and
whatever else time.)

1PM - 5PM is when the sessions, walks, shoots, discussions, etc. all
happens.

5PM - 6PM is when we take a break for dinner.

7PM - 9PM is when the sessions, walks, shoots, discussions, etc. all
happens.

9PM is when we wrap it all up!

So what do people think of this?

Sounds awsesome, but I don't know if I have what it takes to be around
at 5 AM!

So how do we know if we're doing a session? Are those things going to
be scheduled, or just ad-hoc...? And how long do we get if we're
doing one?

At *Camps, Sessions are doled out day of. Presenters show up, sign up,
and then do!
It's both frustrating and awesome, but I think the fluid nature of the
session board is fundamental to want makes a *camp event a *camp
event.

I think having a master schedule is amazing.

Pete, will we be able to put handheld radios in the session rooms for
a make-shift PA for anoncements?
I have three I can bring.

Scott,

As Gabe mentioned, we try to do all scheduling during the event.

So, when we do the Opening Ceremonies, the mic will be passed to you, and you will say:

"Hi, I'm Scott Feldstein, and I shoot wedding, and portraits, and love teaching photography to beginners. I plan on doing a session on how to get started with your first DSLR camera"

or whatever.... So now you've told everyone what you want to present on, or teach, or discuss. And people can make a note of it... As the mic goes around the room, there might be another person who wants to teach the *exact same thing* so you guys should talk to each other... maybe team up, or maybe split it into two sessions one for afternoon, one for evening. Maybe he's a Canon guy and you shoot Nikon... who knows?

So after the opening, at lunch is when you write your name and session on a card and affix it to a big grid schedule which has times and locations. It looks sort of like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/raster/2912875702/ or like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/drjason/195668015/

This is when people can peruse the wall, see what interests them, and take note of it.

Make sense?

For people who have been to a BarCamp, this is normal, but we will try to explain it all to first-timers.

Slight revision...

5:00AM "Unofficial" PhotoWalk (For anyone who likes getting up crazy
early. Sunrise is at 5:44AM)
9:00AM Doors open for PhotoCamp
10:00AM Opening Ceremonies
11:00AM - 1:00PM Lunch/Networking
1:00PM - 5:00PM Sessions/Shoots/Etc. (20+ sessions can happen)
5:00PM - 6:30PM Dinner
6:30PM - 8:30PM Sessions/Shoots/Etc. (10+ sessions can happen)
8:30PM - Closing Ceremonies!

9:00PM -- Special "Post Processing Party" - a party after PhotoCamp
where we can let the good times roll a bit more, with food, and
"special" beverages... There would probably be a small cover charge
for this, though we're also trying to get a party sponsor if possible.

If anyone has questions, ideas, tweaks, or whatnot, let me know...
otherwise I'll post this on the site and let everyone know about it.

Looks good to me - I'll make an honest effort to be there for the
morning photowalk.

We have a few handheld radios too.
Schedule looks great.
We'd talked of 'anchor' sessions that are high-popularity and at pre-set times so we draw everyone together and create a few different times of the day that are more likely to have people coming-- any ideas about those or that concept?

Any logic to having it at a downtown bar?  Seems to me it would save significantly on cleanup costs.

Well, the nice thing about it being at Bucketworks would be:

- It's smoke-free
- We're already there
- The people there will be people who actually attended PhotoCamp

What do you see as being the cost to cleanup?

I'll give you the smoke free thing.  Failed to consider that.  AJ Bombers, the new place just down McKinley is smoke free and has great food, and peanuts.

Cleanup costs are 95% time and effort.

If the weather holds up and I'm up early enough, I may make it... where will you all meet? Right at Bucketworks?

I'm assuming Bucketworks... but you early risers should agree, then we will post it on the blog and let people know...

I’m fine with meeting at Bucketworks since people should be familiar with where it is.  I’d still like to head to Reservoir Park for sunrise over the city.

Weather forecast is looking really good for Saturday.

Cool. If we leave there a little after 5 am, we should have plenty of set up time?  I found this on the navy astro site (http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.php) :
The following information is provided for Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin (longitude W88.0, latitude N43.0):
        Saturday
2 May 2009 Central Daylight Time

                         SUN
        Begin civil twilight 5:13 a.m.
        Sunrise 5:44 a.m.
        Sun transit 12:49 p.m.
        Sunset 7:54 p.m.
        End civil twilight 8:26 p.m.
I thinking if we have some low hanging clouds over the lake 5:35-5:44 should bring some spectacular colors...

This is great!

Also, I know you may not be able to process shots before 10AM, but if you can shoot a few JPGs we can show during the opening ceremony, that would be awesome...
