Abstract:
Protein-protein interactions underlie most proteins’ functions, but they are difficult to measure. I will discuss a new form of optical contrast based on triggerable fluorescence from triplet states, revealing interactions in live cells with a single tag. I will also share some thoughts on fluorescence lifetime imaging for "absolute" cellular imaging.
Speaker Bio:
I'm passionate about building and using new microscopy technologies, and my work lies at the intersection of biophysics, chemical biology & cell biology. During my PhD in Chemistry at UC Berkeley, I worked with Dr. Evan Miller on absolute voltage imaging with fluorescence lifetime. I'm currently a scientist at Calico Life Sciences, where I develop and apply new microscopy technologies. My projects over the years include a biosensor for lysosomal pH, calcium imaging and integration, and a “tumbling” assay to reveal protein-protein interactions.
