Dear Chaoying,
I hope that you are doing well. Julia, who has spoke at photo bears event before on her polarization method for fluorescence microscopy, and I are hiring a Summer 2026 intern to develop new fluorescence-based assays for synuclein aggregation. This is a great opportunity for a PhD student interested in microscopy, chemical biology, and Parkinson’s disease. The perspective intern will have the opportunity to work with the microscopy team and experts in Parkinson’s disease biology to develop a new readout for synuclein aggregation in cells.
we would encourage anyone from the imaging community at Berkeley who also has background and interest in biophysics and neuroscience to apply for this opportunity:https://www.calicolabs.com/careers/?gh_jid=8326871002.
The internship is a 12-week paid program, on site in South San Francisco, CA. The application deadline is February 1, 2026, but the interview process could start as early as in Jan 2026. Calico (Calico Life Sciences LLC) is an Alphabet-founded research and development company whose mission is to harness advanced technologies and model systems to increase our understanding of the biology that controls human aging and age-related diseases.
Both Julia and I were trained in Berkeley, and we would love to have the opportunity to work with talented Berkeley graduate students again.
Best wishes,
