Repair of Upholstery of exam chair, through Lombart Instruments, June 2017

I was presented with a repair problem in May 2017.

A Marco exam chair had a tear in the upholstery, and the doctor wanted it fixed.

I contacted the parts department at Lombart Instruments about the problem.

(1-800-LOMBART)

I had already taken a couple photos of the chair, to present the problem.

I forwarded the photos to my parts person at Lombart.

He explained the process.

“Marco does not sell the individual cushions for their chairs.   However, Lombart can re-upholster the individual seat cushions.”

The process went something like this.

I sent them photos, and the chair model number.

They send me a matching cushion.

I replace the cushion and send them back the damaged cushion for credit.

The final charge was around $400.  (But if not returning the damaged cushion for credit, it would have been nearly twice that price.)

Lombart can then re-upholster the damaged cushion, and use it for a different customer.

See attached “Before” and “After” photos.

The cushion sort of snaps off and on.  It was necessary to remove the back cushion of the chair to pull the seat cushion off.  But once figuring out how it all works, the process went smoothly.

The attached PDF show the colors that Marco cushions are typically available in.
Send the Lombart parts person a picture of the chair, with torn upholstery.
Send the chair model number. ("Marco Pro. No. - - - - ")
Notate the color of the upholstery.
When you get the replacement cushion, install it.
Some cushions snap into place.
Other cushion have a "wing nut -- style bolt that holds the seat onto the chair, from underneath the chair frame)
(Each type can be tricky to figure out.)
Pack up the torn cushion, and return to Lombart for credit, using the same shipping box.
(Lombart typically supplies the return shipping label.)
Then request a final statement for the net amount due.
Something like the original invoice, of $718 due.
Then the cushion returned (credit of $344)
Then you can get a statement of a net due amount -- $374.

OK.  One other detail.  Notate the SERIAL NUMBER of the chair.
Marco has different seat configurations, depending on the serial number, even with one model number.
To get the correct seat shape, Lombart will also need to know the serial number of the chair.
