Temporary Projector Stand
Dec 2018
For the last 20 years, I have maintained optical equipment at an HMO.
The trend is toward the latest equipment to be put in use, for eye exam rooms.
Along the way, more traditional devices are put out of service.
Recently some of the high tech “computer screen charts” had temporary malfunctions.
I then returned to some back-up methods, to allow the optometrists to continue doing eye exams, when the more advanced systems go down.
I came up with two backup “projectors.”
The Marco projector is designed to be wall mounted. Typically, the wall mounts are removed in exam rooms where they installed the computer screen charts.
To get around this, I designed a Temporary Projector Stand to use in its place. It consists of a base (about 2 foot by 2 foot) to support a 6 foot tall pole, which has a bracket to hold a Marco CP-690E projector.
You could then use a section of poster board as a temporary screen (about 14” x 17” is a suitable size).
The attached PDF show details of such a "temporary" or "emergency" chart stand.
Perhaps a simpler method, is to keep a wall-mounted bracket attached to the exam room wall, for easier installation of a back-up projector.
