Phoroptor and Optical Maintenance              August 2019

I was an optometrist for 41 years, and a handyman nearly all my life.   Starting in 1998, I combined these two skills to do phoroptor maintenance.   From 1998 to 2019, I annually serviced over 100 Reichert Ultramatic RxMaster Phoroptors for a health maintenance organization.   I also did adjustments and repairs on a number of other optical devices used for eye examinations.   Phoroptor maintenance seemed to fill perhaps 90% of my time doing optical maintenance.  I have prepared instruction manuals on phoroptor lens cleaning and phoroptor disassembly, which are included on this website.  Also included are videos describing some of these maintenance procedures.

As I retire, I leave behind this knowledge for anyone interested in learning these methods for themselves.

(You might ask, Why does it say at each of the below entries  --   “By Energy Conservation in Housing”   . . . ?  Well, that’s the first web-site I opened with Google Groups.  It is where I posted a PDF copy of a book I wrote in 1990.    (Energy Conservation in Housing -- A Collection of Data on Energy Efficient Housing Approaches).  So “Google” identifies me as “Energy Conservation in Housing”   -- and you can go to that site and look stuff up.)   https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/energy-conservation-in-housing

I have a three other sites that might be of interest to some people.
