Is there anyway to access ical using phone-gap or will we have to
create our own html& JavaScript version of a calendar?

it's unclear what you wish to do.
1) access the calendar (as in see the appointments of the user
or
2) just have a calendar interface (you can't do the first with just
jscript)

I would be interested too...

Idon't want to access directly the calendar, but it would be nice to
have a possibility to give to the user when they register for
something, that an event is automatically created in his calendar if
he wants.
