Hi,

using captureAudio() a file recordingxxx.3gpp is created.

Is the audio file format different with other Android versions /
mobile phones? Or can I rely that always 3gpp is used?

From the official phonegap documentation, I have read something about
amr and 3gpp only for video?

The mode parameter is not supported. The audio recording format cannot
be altered programmatically. Recordings are encoded using Adaptive
Multi-Rate (AMR) format (audio/amr)

3gpp files are the only type of files that has support for an encoder built into Android. You can always rely on them being able to be decoded.
