Hi there

I have a really simple question about phonegaps implementation of
SQLite.
Does phonegap use the embedded browsers SQLite or the phones native
SQLite storage?

I ask because there is a limit to the browser base SQLite where the
native SQLite could be any size.

We use the browser based implementation whenever possible. However, you can work around it:

Just to clarify even using the work round there is still the 5mb
limit.

No, with the workaround you can create a huge SQLiteDB file and import it into your app.
