Hi there,

i just opened

http://phonegap.com/demo2

in my IPhone 3G but i got the message "GAP is not supported!". Before
that I already tried to implement the geo location example from teh
phonegap wiki but got the same message, but thought that I might have
made some mistake during the programing. Now seeing that I open the
phonegap demo and it shows me the same message tells me that something
else might be wrong?

Anybody has an idea what could be the reason for that?

Thanks for your help in advance.

This works only on device. You have to compile phonegap and install on
device. You cannot do this from outside, using mobile safari.

Thanks rborn for your quick reply,

this then means that if I would create a web app for IPhone using
phonegap, all the users that would use this webapp would also have to
install phonegap first before using my webapp?

Thanks

Well, phonegap is not designed for this.
The purpose of phonegap is to create native applications for iphone/
blackberry/android using web technologies - html/js

For webapps ( so web pages designed for iphone ), there are other
frameworks that are designed for this.

Thanks again for the reply.

Ok i see, so I guess that if i want to access iphone features as geo
location that I either have to write native applications in ObjectC or
use and install phonegap in order to access those features via
javascript, right?

Or are there other ways still of accessing geolocation from a web
application without having to install additional software and just use
safari to browse the site?

Thanks

Using safari only you will not be able to access phone features.

If you are part of the iPhone Developer Program, the What's New
document in the new SDK will be interesting.

Thanks for your replies, that has been helpful.

@Shazron: I'm not registered in the iPhone Developer Program, is there
a way still to get to the information you are posting about? And what
would that information would be about?

Thanks

Sorry, there is a NDA regarding discussing the 3.0 SDK.

Vivian,
If you want to break the NDA that is your choice (I'm assuming you are
part of the iPhone Dev Program), but you should not post that file in
this public forum. I'm sure PhoneGap does not want more attention than
it (might) already have with Apple.

You do realize to go through to that link you provided, need to login
to Apple.
And to login to see that page, you need to be part of the iPhone
Developer Program (I checked that you cannot go in with a regular free
dev account).
Even a free dev account you are bound by the confidentiality agreement
in the ToS (most ppl skip over reading this...)
