The connection To The Server Was Unsuccessful

I keep getting this message on both the simulator and the real device.
Is there any new developments in that regard? Search turns up nothing.
I am running it on Android 1.6

When loading the index.html on start.. come on, I can't be the only one :) it seems I should be searching for "Android woes" thread cause yea, Android has a lot of issues, it would appear the timeout I am experiencing is cause by some of the phonegap events not firing at all..

First, any reason you are targeting Android 1.6? Google shows that
only 6.2% of the Android devices are using Android 1.5/1.6 you should
look at targeting Android 2.1+

However, that really doesn't answer your question. This reminds me of
a problem we had where the device was unable to contact the
CallbackServer due to a proxy being in the way. Do you have a proxy
setup on your phone? Please reproduce the problem with "adb logcat"
running and post the logs up here and we'll better be able to help
you.
