Hello,

Tizen is out there and seems very closed to PhoneGap for the Web API
side.
Why don't you take into account to start to merge in some way PhoneGap
with the Tizen Web API?

bye,

Luca

I think maybe you are a bit confused. Tizen is a completely new
mobile operating system being developed by Samsung/Intel/Others.
Tizen OS defines a Web API for application development. Their Web API
is effectively their implementation of HTML5, W3C and other web/mobile
specs so that application developers can create native applications
for Tizen OS using web technology (HTML / JavaScript / CSS). This is
somewhat similar to the goals of Mozilla's Boot To Gecko (B2G) project
https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G.

PhoneGap on the other hand was created to bridge the gaps on operating
systems (Android, iOS, BlackBerry, WP7, etc.) that prevent web
applications from having full native functionality. PhoneGap does
this by exposing native functionality through JavaScript API defined
by standards. Like Tizen and B2G, PhoneGap also uses the W3C
specifications for its API definitions when one exists. So, where a
standard exists, the API on Tizen, B2G and PhoneGap should look the
same.

It has always been stated that one of the goals of PhoneGap is to
cease to exist. This means that our hopes are that operating system
platforms will expose all native functionality through standardized
web apis. Tizen and B2G are examples of platforms which will likely
have no need for PhoneGap since they are being designed for the web
developer first.
