Disable auto-generated links in Android?

Android is making all email addresses clickable automatically which is really annoying.

The client wants to put "eg., na...@domain.com" below email input fields, but if the user accidentally taps a bit low and hits the example text instead of the field, Android launches the mail app with a new message to "na...@domain.com".

Does anybody know a workaround for this?

I don't think you can do it in Java. You may have to fix up your email links:
