Dear Philip,
It's spring, so orchards, community gardens, and farms across the city are fully in bloom. We are celebrating their beauty and preparing for the future harvest (and current pests like the recently-spotted plum curculio) with upcoming spring work days and other events, shared below. In particular, we're excited to host self-described pawpaw fanatic Ted Weeden for a pawpaw grafting workshop on Saturday May 13.
Don't forget: Philadelphia's primary election is next month, on May 16, and includes races for City Council and Mayor. One topic we think every candidate for office should be talking about is our climate and what policies they will be seeking to implement to make sure we have a livable planet. Read the Nature Conservancy's take on the latest IPCC report here for more background on this topic. New investments in green infrastructure will help us move in the right direction, and Philadelphia is well-positioned to take advantage of federal funding to implement our new Tree Plan.

Celebrate Mother's Day in a sustainable way by making a gift to POP in honor of a mother figure in your life! Donate here, and they'll receive a beautiful tree certificate personalized with their name and a heartfelt message. It's a keepsake to cherish, with a fruit tree planted in honor of the recipient providing nourishment to the community. Have your Mother's Day gift make a positive impact on the environment and help to provide fresh, healthy food to those in need. Make your donation by Monday May 8th @12pm to have a tree certificate sent by USPS (or, if by email, donate by Friday May 12 at 3pm!).
