Hello fellow fruit tree enthusiasts,

A quick question on tree pruning - is it better to avoid rainy pruning weeks, or to not finish pruning your trees by mid-to-late March?

Some context: I have a large number of trees to prune and got a late start to pruning this season. I understand it is ill-advised to prune during a rainy day, or even on a dry day if there are rainy days in the near future, as the rain is a reliable transmitter of diseases. That being the case, I've only been pruning when there are at least two dry days following the pruning.

I don't think I'll have enough time to prune all of my trees by mid-to-late March if I keep avoiding rainy days. So my question is this - is it better to prune them during rainy weeks, but finish pruning on time? Or to keep avoiding rainy days and not prune all of the trees this winter? I understand that the best option would have been to start pruning earlier...but things being as they are, which bad choice is the better one?

Hope this question is clear. Thanks in advance!
