In 2022, Xerces Monarch and Pollinator Habitat Kits (Northeast) are available for projects located anywhere in the state of New Jersey or within the city limits of Philadelphia, PA.

The cost of the Monarch and Pollinator Habitat Kits will be covered by The Xerces Society. Kits are intended to be used by agencies, conservation districts, NGO/non-profit organizations, nature centers, community groups, Bee City and Bee Campus affiliates, and other eligible candidates to create or enhance monarch and pollinator habitat on working lands, natural areas, parks, and community spaces.
 
Kit Types and Descriptions (see notes below)
We are able to offer a three different kit types this year. Please see the descriptions below to determine which kit is most appropriate for your proposed project and site.

OPTION 1. Herbaceous Kit for Upland, Dry-Average Sites (Large)
•    Each kit contains 1,200 herbaceous plugs.
•    Each kit covers ~5,000 sq. ft. area when using 2 ft. spacing.
•    Each kit has 16 species including milkweed, nectar plants, and bunch grasses.
•    Adapted to dry-average well-drained soils, full-part sun.

OPTION 2. Herbaceous Kit for Upland, Dry-Average Sites (Small)
•    Each kit contains 600 herbaceous plugs.
•    Each kit covers ~2,500 sq. ft. area when using 2 ft. spacing.
•    Each kits has 9 species including milkweed and nectar plants, and bunch grasses.
•    Adapted to dry-average well-drained soils, full-part sun.

OPTION 3. Herbaceous Kit for Mesic-Wet Sites
•    Each kit contains 700 herbaceous plugs.
•    Each kit covers a ~2,500-3,000 sq. ft. area when using 2 ft. spacing.
•    Each kits has 11 species including milkweed and nectar plants.
•    Adapted to moist soils, tolerant of intervals of standing water and drought, full sun-part shade.
