Job Title: Philadelphia Prison Orchard (PPO) Program Manager
Job Type: Full time (40 hours per week)
Salary: $ 41,600- $52,000 depending on experience with an annual cost of living adjustment

Job Summary: The PPO Program Manager will oversee all aspects of orchard care throughout the year. The PPO Program Manager will work closely with the Philadelphia Department of Prisons Director of Sustainability-Operations and will manage and work with a variety of people at the Prison Orchard including part time orchard staff, volunteers, and incarcerated program participants
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Mange vegetable production for ~2000 sq feet of raised beds / greenhouse space including crop planning, seeding, plant care, harvest and donation
Manage orchard fruit production from ~200 fruit trees including tree pruning, orchard floor management, tree spraying, disease management, fruit thinning, and fruit harvest and donation
Oversee care for the wellbeing of a chicken flock of 15-20 hens and one rooster including feeding, cleaning coop, and providing occasional medical care and vet visits
Design and lead educational programming for 2-8 incarcerated program participants and create daily work plans for what participants can help with when they arrive and provide instruction on how to complete orchard tasks
Plan activities for 2-3 large volunteer days per year
Provide supervision and training to part-time orchard staff, volunteers and incarcerated persons
Work with Bennett Compost Manager of Partnerships to develop budget and order supplies, seeds and tools and other equipment
Complete other tasks as necessary to maintain the health of Philadelphia Prison Orchard
Required Skills / Abilities
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
A problem solver with a can-do attitude
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to develop trusting relationships with a wide range of people including volunteers, prison staff and incarcerated persons

Required Experience
Experience in gardening/farming (minimum of 2 years). Preference will be given to individuals with orchard experience.
Valid driver license
