Philly Orchardists,
A few spots are still available for this Saturday's hands-on workshop at Bartram's Orchard:

Saturday, June 12

POPCORE Workshop on Pest & Disease Management @ Bartram's Garden

Join us in person for a POPCORE workshop focusing on holistic and organic approaches to management of orchard pests & diseases, including hands-on scouting and demonstration of techniques.

Workshop will be held at the orchard at Bartram's Garden, one of POP's most established and diverse orchard sites.  This session is intended as a hands-on compliment to the virtual version of POPCORE, but prior attendance of any other session is not needed. All are welcome!

Pre-registration, masks, and social-distancing required.

9:30am - 12:00pm:  POPCORE 2 WORKSHOP

  • Intro to holistic orchard management, including most common pest & disease challenges, organic spray options, and other management techniques

  • HANDS-ON Scouting and Identification of pests & diseases

  • HANDS-ON Application of management techniques including fruit thinning, fruit bagging, compost tea and neem oil applications, OFM mating disrupters, and beneficial insect releases

The POPCORE training course combines many elements of orchard stewardship, ecosystem design, and food uses that POP has learned over the past fourteen years.  This four part series is intended to grow the knowledge, skillset, and self-reliance of our community orchard partners and volunteers, resulting in happier, healthier, and more productive community orchards.

Each workshop can be taken individually. Those completing all four classes over any two year period will receive POPCORE Urban Orchardist Certification!

Space is limited, pre-registration required!
