So it was cool seeing what people were working on at the ESRI Dev
meetup....thought it might start some conversations on here.

So what are you working on?

Me...

I'm putting together some stuff for the NICAR convention. This is the
National Institute for Computer Assisted Reporting. I'm speaking on
mapping trends and cheap tools to do spatial analysis with. Also
teaching a hands-on class about projections and coordinate systems.

Also working on some balloon aerial photography. This is part of a
fields methods class I'm taking at ASU. Hacked a Canon camera with
CHDK..allows me to write scripts. I programmed it to take photos every
10 second...next up is mounting the camera in the cradle.

Andrew, that sounds really cool. I've often thought about doing
remote controlled photography, but did not even know I could hack my
Canon! Rad! I would really like to see how you're doing this and see
the shots that you are getting. Perhaps this could be a topic at a
PhxGeo meetup.

One cool project that I have been working on at work is automating the
daily downloading and geoprocessing of snow data from a NOAA FTP
site. Yes, it does snow in Arizona and SRP does monitor snowpack and
runoff to the reservoir systems. The technologies involved include
VB.NET, Windows Scheduled Tasks, ArcGIS and Model Builder/Python
scripts.
