Better OS integration should be a high priority. Ideally I'd leave it
sitting in my system tray like I do with my regular BT client,
although iTunes does show a little error when iTorrent isn't running.
A nice bonus meaning I don't have to leave iTorrent open 24/7 and the
current app is survivable.
Unfortunately, some sort of download management option is absolutely
critical at this point. It just blindly downloads everything when you
first add a feed to iTunes, and iTunes doesn't have the list of files
so you can't stop it downloading a particular file. I wound up
hacking the config file to fix it, a pain in the arse to find on vista
because it writes to the locked-down program files folder (which means
all iTorrent data is redirected to the virtualstore folder).
I set num-failures to 100 for everything I'd already downloaded before
installing iTorrent, and after complaining once it seems to work now.
This, more than anything, is why I won't be recommending anyone I know
start using iTorrent just yet.
Cheers,
Andy
First off, let me thank you very much for your feedback. That really
helps drive the priority list of enhancements. I totally agree with
all of your points and I think they they are not only very valid, but
also my same complaints. My hope in creating the Windows installer
for iTorrent was to get some of this feedback and hopefully some help
in improving the product. I think an iTunes Bit Torrent client would
be a useful tool, and we just need to get the community involved in
developing it.
Would you happen to be able to make a technical contribution to
iTorrent? If so let me know, I've got of list of things we need to
hammer on. At the least I would like to retain you as a tester and as
we improve the product have you evaluate it as a user --one of the
most import facilities of delivering a good software product.
Thanks again for you comments,
All the best,
Chris
