7:15pm King of the Asteroids by Kay Leather

Between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter and forming a ring around the
Sun is the Asteroids. Are these huge celestial boulders the raw
material of a planet that never formed? Or, are they debris of a
cosmic catastrophe - lost worlds? In this presentation we take a
look at the largest of these objects, dwarf planet Ceres, which is at
its closest to the Earth in September.

7:30pm Ice Worlds by Kay Leather

Near the edge of the Sun’s system of planets is the giant world
Uranus, the most distant planet that can be seen with the unaided eye.
Uranus and its system of moons, which is at its closest to the Earth
in September, is the topic of this presentation.

7:50pm Ra – God of Light Richard Hall

Once thought to be “perfect” and unchanging, we now know that the Sun
slowly fluctuates in brightness shifting and changing the climate on
Earth. Solar activity is currently on the rise. In this presentation
we look at solar activity and the ways in which it is responsible for
the rise and fall of civilizations

galactic nucleus and encounter the most awesome object in the galaxy
Sagittarius “A”.

7:15pm Exploring the Galactic Halo by Ian Cooper

In this presentation we travel to regions far beyond the stars of our
night sky. We explore the galaxy's vast and ancient halo with its
magnificent globular star clusters.

7:45pm Supper

8:00pm Observing

Star & constellation recognition followed by telescope viewing of
Saturn, Jupiter and nebulae and halo objects in Scorpius &
