Video Astronomy - Live Viewing in Colour!
Presented by John Whitby (& Richard Hall), Neil Kopu (& Darrell
Ramsey)
Video Astronomy has come of age and the technological advancements in
recent years has lead to a new revolution for the amateur astronomer.
This presentation features the Mallincam Colour Video Camera, the
pinnacle of Video Astronomy Equipment available today for live colour
viewing of Deep Sky Objects. Using this technology, live colour images
are being broadcast all over the world through Night Skies Network
(www.nightskiesnetwork.com) for all to enjoy.
The contents of this presentation will include live colour images
captured locally at Taumata Island Observatory and will show the
observatory setup and equipment used in Colour Video Astronomy and
broadcasting. Currently Taumata Island Observatory is the only
observatory in New Zealand broadcasting Live Colour images to the
world with the Mallincam technology.
On the Friday at the Wairarapa meeting, Neil Kopu will be doing a
demonstration of his portable video system and if the weather is clear
will display live colour images of some of our well known night sky
objects.

Journey to the Edge of the Universe (National Geographic)
The second half of this single, epic camera move as we journey from
Earths surface to the outermost reaches of the universe on a grand
tour of the cosmos, to explore newborn stars, distant planets, black
holes and beyond. In this second part we venture onwards from black
holes to the outer reaches of our galaxy and further on towards the
edge of the Universe.

Please note we have changed the meeting times from 7:00pm to 7:30pm.
This gives a little more time for people to arrive at the meetings
especially for those travelling from the Wairarapa to the Wellington
meeting and vice versa.
