Dear all,

Céline asked me to pass on this e-mail:

Hi!

My cousin's engineering school in France (http://www.efrei.fr/en) organizes each year a humanitarian project in a developing country. This year, they are looking at starting a project in Cambodia. The objective of the project is simple, they would like to partner with a local school or institution working with children in primary or secondary levels by donating some computers. On these computers, they would install an open source operating system called Edubuntu (https://www.edubuntu.org/about), which includes several educational programs useful for children's education, and then the project students would teach teachers/adults how to operate them, and initiate children to its utilization too.

The number of computers donated would depend on the size of the school. Ideally, the school or institution would be willing to transform a room into a computer's room.
In terms of logistics, they would prefer getting computers in France and then ship them over (all costs covered). They also would like to build a long term relationship, which means providing a monitoring service after they leave, and help with any repairing or problems the school might encounter, and eventually, come back each year to update/upgrade the equipment and software.

It seems that they have already done this before in African countries and some Asian countries (incl. Nepal).

If you would know of any school/institution/person interested in this opportunity, please let me know! or feel free to forward this to your friends.

Thanks a lot,
Celine
