Thanks! Is it always going to be the latest data when you hit the link?
Unfortunately not, that would be a very nice feature, but it's hardly possible. The data are from yesterday, but I'll do updates on demand.
Just a few technical insights:
The raw data of Cambodia (bounding box) is currently ~250M and here starts the problem. The server (is in Thailand) connection is just to bad to download these data from the overpass api. That's why I have to download first the data to my local machine and to compress and upload again the data.
Once on the server the data are processed by a script. First the data are imported using osm2pgsql to a PostGIS database and views for the later generation of GPX and Shapefiles are created. Using ogr2ogr the Shapefiles are written and finally compressed. The GPX file is also generated with ogr2ogr. KMZ format is created by a custom PHP script and finally mkgmap generate the Garmin map file.
That's basically the processing flow.

Dear Cambodia mappers,
I'm happy to announce up-to-date OpenStreetMap downloads of Cambodia. The downloads are available on http://www.openstreetmap.la/files/cambodia/
In consultation with Wil I've prepared Shapefiles, GPX, KMZ and Garmin files as well as the whole database (cambodia.osm.pbf). The Shapefile contains also (rather simple) QGIS styles, i.e. just open the Shapefiles in QGIS and you'll get a styled layer. As khmer names I considered "name:km" as well as "name:kh". According to the ISO 639-1 standard it should be "km", is that right?
Feedback is highly appreciated! Please feel free to comment if it works for you or not, which attributes you like to see in the Shapefiles etc.

Roads shapefile that you made is 21MB - the download for roads in Cambodia that Google gave me is 20.3MB.. I found that even though Google provides a download for people, it is missing detail outside Phnom Penh (even diamond island, which is in phnom penh)... so it's good to have an easy way to get a more complete roads dataset. Thanks man! Your service also beats getting the data in QGIS, which only allows users to download a little at a time.
Regarding updates - perhaps monthly would be good as we're doing monthly Cambodia OSM Update Marathons. The next will be from 8am Saturday 30th June. Perhaps you could time it to do the update a week after each marathon, since often people keep working a lot in the evenings after work on things that they didn't get done in the marathon.
Keep in touch,
Wil
Hey man,
We are doing another OSM update marathon today for Cambodia!
Do you think you might be able to do another batch of shapefiles for Cambodia on openstreetmap.la in a week from now, say on 14/7/12?
Hope all's well in Laos!
Wil
