Dear Onyinye and Oluwaseyi
I write to introduce the People's Health Movement (PHM) to you.
Over the past few years PHM has
grown significantly in Africa and as some of you may know PHM has
several country circles in Africa working on different issues such as
National Health Insurance, Universal Health Care, Right to Health.
- The
international People’s Health University – IPHU, which is a training
course for young health activists across the world on the politics of
health. For more information please visit: www.iphu.org
- The Right to Health Campaign –
RTHC, which is an umbrella for all PHM action on country, regional and
global level within the framework of the Right to Health. The campaign
has been reviewed to include a comprehensive campaign which includes
among other issues social determinants of health (Health For All
campaign).
- The Global Health Watch – GHW, which is an alternative publication to the WHO report and can be freely downloaded on www.ghwatch.org. If you are interested, PHM has put out a call for case studies for the Global Health watch 4 (attached).
- WHO watch, which is part of the
Global Governance for Health program and trains young activists how to
watch WHO. More details can be found on www.ghwatch.org
- People's Health Assembly organized approximately every 5 years. The 3rd assembly was held in Africa in July 2012.
PHM is registered in Nigeria under the name People's Health Initiative Nigeria (PHIN) and we are looking forward to building a strong team of passionate health activists across all sectors and we will really appreciate your involvement and participation in our struggle to achieve the singular goal of Health for All. We will like you to involve some like minds at your various institutions.
