Next week, I need to head downtown to 30th Street
Station, to pickup some family members who will be
in town for the holidays. I'm unsure if I need to ask
them to meet me on the 29th or 30th street side, and
some googling didn't give a clear answer.

Anyone here know what side is best?

Thanks,

Dave

You most likely want the 30th ST side since there is metered short term
parking on that side. The Philadelphia Parking Authority though patrols
quite regularly so don't underestimate the time you're about to spend either
waiting or getting folks to your car.

I thought the meters around the station are owned and patrolled by
Amtrak, and have different rules (they operate 24/7, and have no
exemption for handicapped permits).

They are in effect 24 hours a day, but I see PPA employees issuing the
tickets around the 30th St machines. I rarely drive there (ride Septa
normally to get to 30th ST) and thus I can't be sure what tickets cost or
any of a variety of other practices, but I definitely regularly see PPA
issuing tickets for either no money in the meter or over-staying.
