When all the talker show hosts got unceremoniously axed from WWDB, I
expected they would all show up together on another station soon.
Anyone hear any news?

Are you aware of a talk radio station out there with no hosts at all, just dead
air, that would be able to accommodate "all the talker show hosts"? Do you
think there's a great market out there for people who couldn't deliver for
their previous employer?

Irv Homer, in his appearance on Channel 6 (this past Sunday), said that he is
still being paid. Perhaps they must wait until their contracts run out before
picking up on a new gig!!-:)

Irv Homer is in his 70's and started on DB on St. Patty's Day in 1975. He used
to be a kick-ass caller and went on to stations in Delco. Uncle Irv hasn't
missed a payday in 50 years --
He, Dom Quinn, and Wynn Moore were Philly's best talkers. (That is, if you're
not counting Bob Grant's brief stint in '79-80.

turning his dial to Rollye James and Michael Smerconish these days -- real

Bill & Dolly Banks did a great job!! When Dolly left, things went down the
tubes, progressively but rapidly!!!=(:
Frank Ford was pretty much the grand-daddy of them all. I remember him in
the'40's 'n'50's, before the time when two-way talk was available (at least not
in the sense we have it today). The host would pick up the phone, repeat the
question, and guests would respond. Frank was with WPEN, in the earlier
days, and the studios were on Walnut Street. A Sun Ray Drug Co. store was on
the same floor as the studios and you could pick up a snack before, after, or
during the broadcast. I often went to the live shows!!! The audiences, in
those days, would write out questions to send up to Frank, or other hosts. The
host would read them and, as with over the phone, repeat the questions so that
guests could respond.
There were many good hosts, throughout the years!!! I can even remember crying
real tears when some of them were let go!!=(: I, honestly, today, can't even
remember their names!!!=:) About the time of Ken Boehm, and the station's
move to introduce more conservative, and ultra-conservative hosts, is about the
time that I began to lose interest. I stuck it out through Richard Haye's
days, in spite of his conservatism!!=:) When he left, I gave up on WWDB,
almost entirely!!!=:)
Happy New Year to You ALL 'n Yours!!!:)

>does anyone know whatever happened to Jerry Williams,
Jerry Williams moved back to Boston long ago, and was appearing on the 680
talk station (WRKO) there until about 3-4 years ago, when the station starting
changing its talk format. Jerry was still on the air on weekends then, but the
obvious end of the relationship was in sight. It's doubtful that he planned on
moving from Boston. Don't know what he did afterwards, or what he's doing now.
I also note for the record that Ken James had a regular talk show on WWDB when
the station first made the switch from jazz to talk, just like his brother.

I do remember reading in the Inquirer that Sid Mark was hired on one of the
AM stations to continue his Frank Sinatra program.
