Just saw the Philadelphia magazine piece about WIP, "The Horniest
Station In Town" (sandwiched between nude-laden ads for plastic
surgeons).

If Kris Gamble's being shoved into the background, they're making a
major mistake. Guess those macho guys see her as being too happy,
healthy, knowledgeable, lusty and cute--you know, a threat.

Pity. With Kris in the shadows and WDRE's Sarah on the way out, that
leaves Gina Preston as the strongest woman on Philadelphia radio. We
need more.

Why is WIP making a major mistake putting Gamble in the background? She
never belonged on that morning show in the first place. she knows
nothing about sports. What was her purpose there? To giggle at things
that Cataldi says.

Kris Gamble was a serious, outspoken sports fan long before WIP hired
her. The dynamic between Kris and Chuck Kelley when they teamed at
Star 104.5 was fascinating--she was clearly the more "macho" of the
two, a fact they both recognized and had fun with. She's certainly no
giggling bimbo. And, as far as I know, she never sent any chat-room
buddies any roses.

I'm a serious outspoken sports fan but I'm not on the radio. She
certainly is a radio professional but I think that the station hired
her not for her sports knowledge but for the giggle factor. I knew that
but I guess she didn't. I used to listen to those knuckleheads in the
morning but I can't anymore. I used to hate Morganti and then all of a
sudden he became the voice of reason on the morning show and I thought
wait one minute it must be getting pretty bad when I started to like
Morganti the best.

Radio in general in Phila is pretty bad. One shining light i think is
the movie guy on WWDB on sundays.
