Recommended versions of Linux and Apache

Could users who run PHKAPA on their own servers share what versions of Apache and Linux platform they have it working with? I am planning on setting up a version on AWS and could do with some insight into what ingredients to select for my build that are known to work well together over and above the minimum spec in the Wiki. Much appreciated!
