This pass-only, no-fail, interactive online course has seven short sections with quizzes after each section. You can take it using a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone and it takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete.
The at-home online knowledge test is available online weekdays Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., except on State holidays. The test is supervised remotely, so it requires you to use a webcam and cannot be done on a smartphone or tablet. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian will need to give permission before you can take the test.
If you select eLearning, you will receive a Virtual Test Center Access email with a link to the eLearning course. You can access the course through this link, or through your eDL44 application, at any time for the duration of the application (one year).
You will receive a Virtual Test Center Access Email with a link to MVProctor to begin the online knowledge test. You may begin testing within the Virtual Test Center hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except state holidays.
Once the test is completed, a test results email will be generated within 24 hours. If test results are not received after 24 hours, please visit a local DMV office and present the DL Application Confirmation Code that was provided in the DMV: Virtual Test Center Access email.

The knowledge test is available to take online at KnowToDrive Nevada. These results are transmitted to the DMV automatically for the purposes of issuing instruction permits or driver licenses. The test is available in both English and Spanish. Touch-screen devices are not compatible with the online exam - only computers with front-facing cameras or camera peripherals.
Interpreters must attest that they are approved by a governmental agency, court, educational institution, or non-profit advocacy group by presenting a letter from the approving agency. This is submitted with an application (DMV 502). See DMV Approved Translators/Interpreters.
The DMV charges a Testing Fee of $25 for a first-time knowledge and skills test and $10 for all retests. The initial fee covers both written and drive tests for any combination of license classes or endorsements that are paid for at the same time.
The KnowToDrive Nevada written exam charges a $6.75 fee each time the exam is taken. This fee is assessed at the time of testing. The initial testing fee of $25 will still be assessed when collecting your driving credentials. These fees are in addition to other Driver License Fees. Certain medically-required tests are exempt. There is no charge for vision tests.

If you are between the ages of 15 - 18 years old, you must apply for a Learner Permit.
If you are 18+ years old, you do not need to receive a Learner Permit in order to take the drive test. However, if you choose to get a driving permit for driving practice, you will need to hold it for at least 30 days before applying for an unrestricted license.
You can re-take the drive test up to three times, each time at least one day apart or as instructed by the examiner.
If you fail the third drive test, you will have to wait 30 days before taking the test a fourth time.
The fourth attempt and any thereafter should be taken no more than one time every 30 days.
*The 30 days starts the day after the last drive test date.
