Welcome to the Phi Tau family! Phi Tau is the TCC Northeast Campus Phi Theta Kappa Chapter. I wanted to say thank you for all who came last night to the Fall 2013 Induction Ceremony. We had such a great turnout and even had to add more chairs. There were over 255 people in attendance to support our 100 plus inductees. I know many who could not attend due to family emergencies, work or school and I am sorry you could not be there. The Induction Ceremony is not mandatory so if you have missed it, it won’t have an effect on you being a member.
Here is some basic information and next steps for you.
I am also available for one on one help during my German tutoring hours at the Writing Center (NACB 1114) on Monday and Wednesday from 2:00-6:00pm. This is a lot of information but I wanted to let you know that I am here for you to help in any way I can.
Thanks so much. I’m going to forward this to Mishuna at Student Activities just in case they get any phone calls, emails about PTK…thanks for taking the initiative and doing this.

Subject: [group_phitauptk] Hello new Phi Theta Kappans
Welcome to the Phi Tau family! Phi Tau is the TCC Northeast Campus Phi Theta Kappa Chapter. I wanted to say thank you for all who came last night to the Fall 2013 Induction Ceremony. We had such a great turnout and even had to add more chairs. There were over 255 people in attendance to support our 100 plus inductees. The Induction Ceremony is not mandatory so if you have missed it, it won’t have an effect on you being a member. Here is some basic information and next steps for you.
- · If you want to get weekly emails about membership meetings, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, scholarships and want to know how you can be more involved in the Chapter, please add us on Blackboard. For this you will have to log on to your MyTCC and click on the TCC Clubs and Committees link , North East Campus, find Phi Theta Kappa – Phi Tau, click the little grey arrow, enroll and submit.
- · We also have a Facebook page where we post information and pictures from our activities there as well:www.facebook.com/ptkphitau. Come and LIKE our page.
- · You will receive or may have already a package from Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters with your certificate and Member ID as well as the golden PTK pin and other information. This usually takes 4-6 weeks. Our chapter does not provide information on the status of your membership materials but if you want more information about the certificate/pin, you may contact the Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters directly at 1-800-946-9995.
- · If you have received an email with an temporary ID or have your Member ID already, I encourage you to log intowww.ptk.org and look through the various things Phi Theta Kappa has to offer and what it is about. There is Collegefish.org which offers information on $37 million in transfer scholarships as well as the Competitive Edge Leadership online development program.
- · Phi Tau still needs volunteers (volunteer mentors and/or writers) to help us with our Honors in Action Project with Serendipity Equine Therapy. To volunteer, please contact our chapter president Jerrod Jeffcoat atjerrod....@my.tccd.edu.
- Right now the Fall Common Application (http://www.ptk.org/scholarships) is currently open for students who plan to transfer in Fall 2014. The deadline is approaching very quickly. If you plan on applying also for the All USA and Coca Cola scholarship and have further questions, please get in touch with Dr. Debra Sikes debra...@my.tccd.edu. If you plan to apply, Dr. Sikes must have your information by Nov. 27th at 12 noon. The advisor team has to review your application materials and submit them by Dec. 2nd.
I am also available for one on one help during my German tutoring hours at the Writing Center (NACB 1114) on Monday and Wednesday from 2:00-6:00pm. This is a lot of information but I wanted to let you know that I am here for you to help in any way I can.
