Officers and Advisors,

Today I was contacted by Ms. Alexandria Hancock, a Phi Tau member. She has a friend, Amanda Lizzio, who was struck on I35 by a drunk driver while changing a tire Friday morning. Amanda is in ICU and currently in a medically induced coma. Alexandria and her friends are making bracelets hoping to sell them to raise money for Amanda's medical care. I would like Phi Tau to help make this more beneficial for Amanda and her family.

Amanda is a former TCC student and is currently enrolled at UNT, she has several friends on our campus that want to help her. Amanda recently started a new job and likely her insurance has not kicked in.

Alexandria is available MWF in the afternoon and from 12:20PM Tues-Thurs.

I am available watch tables MWF from 9AM to 1:30PM and all day availability on Tues-Thursday.

If this is something we officers and advisors agree we can do. We need to decide three things:

How many tables?

Where do we want them?

How many people can volunteer and when?

I would like to have a proposal to Student Activities today and start organizing this during the Member meeting at 5PM this evening.

Yours In Service,

Jerrod Jeffcoat

Hi Jerrod,

I think this is a great idea. I appreciate you sending the email. I am at home right now working on a project for my class tonight but can sign the proposal tomorrow am if I get the paperwork. Please send me the info on who will be volunteering and when. Selling bracelets is a great idea but the weather may not cooperate Friday or Monday morning. The weather forecast is for possible sleet/freezing rain both days. I'd hate to plan a fundraiser and then have school delayed/cancelled because of the weather. My suggestion is since it is so close to Thanksgiving break...and weather is supposed to be wintry tomorrow and Monday is to see if we can make a donation as a chapter of a specific dollar amount. Maybe we can the SGA and other student groups to match our donation. I'm just trying to think of the least man power intensive option. But, if you have people who are willing to donate time Monday - Wed of next week or beyond, I'd go for that as well.

Just my thoughts. Let me know what the team comes up with.

Thats a great and neat idea. Let me know how advisors are reacting to this.

Not to be the Debbie Downer but this needs to be vetted. For your own safety, there needs to be something that verifies the need and states what the funds will be used for.

I agree with Professor Riley.  I'd be happy to make a cash donation.

Thank you all for your help. I get blinded by emotion and tend to run off with out the cart or the horse. I will make sure to get in contact with both the hospital and the person financially responsible for Amanda's care before making a proposal for a donation.

This is a very good cause and I support it and will donate.  Just be sure to cover yourself and your team. Always make sure your members know what they are giving to so you won't encounter backlash.  Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
