Hello,

"Phinms Console is already running."

I have seen this error before, but can not find the source of the problem.  PhinMs 2.8.02 is installed and all the services are running, but I can get the Console to come up.  Only an annoying message telling me that it is already running.  Tried stopping and starting all services, and re-booting the server..

Anybody have a suggestion?

thanks

I assume you have installed on Windows.  If you choose file->exit the console will close.  If you close the application (like all other windows apps) the console doesn't actually exit.  You can stop the application using the task manager.

Just a quick note to add: I can usually find a Tray Icon whenever the PHINMS console is running.  (Little icon by the clock.)

Hey all,

I'm new to this application and this is a very newbie issue I know.

I'm having this exact issue as well with version 2.9.00. There is no tray icon, stopping the application and restarting doesn't work, and restarting the VM does nothing as well.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

The console creates a lock file in the PHINMS install directory.  I am not sure if it is under the base folder or under shared.  Check both places for a file that is obviously new.  If you still do not get it working let me know and I will be able to check later today when I am around a PHINMS installation.

Thanks,

Hello,
This is a common issue.   You need to go into the PHINMS Bin folder, find the PHINMS.EXE and
then run as Administrator via right click.  A console will come right up.  You do not have to stop anything.

I think I have the name of the file right.  Only EXE in the folder.  Very annoying.

The only lock file I see is at C:\Program Files (x86)\PHINMS\jdk\lib\missioncontrol\p2\org.eclipse.equinox.p2.engine\profileRegistry\JMC.profile which doesn't seem to apply. Thanks for the quick response though.

Thanks for the help. I tried running this file as admin with no luck --> C:\Program Files (x86)\PHINMS\bin\phinmsConsole.exe. I get prompted by UAC for permission and then nothing after I click "yes".

We regularly stop the console service when we forget to do File->exit.

Disappointing,  Works here on Win Server 2016.  Sounds like you have a
permissions problem.

Hmmm. That shouldn't be the case. I'm a global admin in my org and verified I am added here as well. Running 2012 R2.

Ok, I think I'm good now. It seems that I just needed to start the PHINMS Tomcat instance before right clicking the console exe and running as admin.

Thank you everyone!
