Hi everybody,

This is great that we are starting now talks on mailing list. Hope the thread continues and we keep this mailing list alive.

First of all I would like to welcome all the new members of our FOSS club.
I have already taken the installation session and I hope by now you all have installed ubuntu in your system. If not please do it soon.
and you can always ask me for the assistance. I am always there by phone, mail, sms and anyway you can contact.

Now those who are reading this mail, this is a *mailing list* and whatever you reply or post to this group will be read by everybody in this mailing list.
Its a very elegant way of communicating and discussing projects and other events.
so pleas read more about mailing list and be careful to post here in this mail.
you can always ask your questions related to this mailing list not going away from the topic *open source* and /or *linux* and related ones.

I have two projects in my mind which I have already discussed with the new members. I want two teams to start working on the project.

The two projects are

1. Ubuntu Based distro for our college
- This is will be a distro for our college which will comprise of pre installed everything what our college curriculum needs and everything will be open source of course. Those who are interested in this project can start a new thread in this mailing list and I will be assisting them in this one.

2. Creating a small game and learn open source tools like Qt OpenGL and develop GUI based game and learn how to merge it with the Open Source

- In this project students will be coding for a small game which I have explained to the new members. after the coding has been done or parallely they will learn to use the open source tools to implement it GUIcaly and then begin with contributing to open source
-previously I was thinking of asking them to work with C but now I think they can start with python. I may take a class coming week on python. they can immidiately start learning and coding.

did i miss anything ? anybody wants to add or suggest something ?

ok so this is where we begin. Please feel free to ask anything you are confused to. don worry about mistakes you make or questions you ask.
No questions are stupid.

Thanks,
President,

python is very easy language to learn. But if you are comfortable with c and have already started coding then thats fine. No worries which language you use. the aim is to introduce you to the open source tools how to create gui applications and then how to start developing and contributing.

If you all can manage a time then I can take a session on python someday probably next week.
